Fortnite, the globally popular Battle Royale game, has gone offline as Epic Games prepares for the launch of Chapter 6, Season 2, titled “Lawless.” The game servers were shut down at 2 a.m. ET on Friday, February 21, following the conclusion of Chapter 6, Season 1: Hunters. Matchmaking was disabled shortly before the shutdown.
When Will Fortnite Be Back Online?
Epic Games is expected to bring Fortnite back online once the update is complete, with the new season anticipated to be available by Friday morning. Historically, new Fortnite seasons have gone live around 6 a.m. ET, though delays have occurred in the past.
To ease the transition, Epic Games has enabled pre-download options for Xbox and PlayStation 5 users. The company announced on social media:
“We’ve enabled the pre-download option for tomorrow’s v34.00 update.”
This feature allows players to install the update in advance and jump into the game as soon as the servers go live.
